39857Some inherited traits are linked to sex chromosomes. And some of these traits can leave us prone to diseases. Sex-linked genes are those genes that are found on either the X or Y chromosome. If the gene is found on the Y chromosome, then only males inherit it, as males are XY. If the gene is located on the X chromosome, it can be inherited by both males and females, but may not be expressed in either. Recall that there are two alleles for each gene. If one allele is dominant and the other is recessive, the dominant trait masks the recessive trait.
