Project Proposal Suggestions:

Purpose: I would suggest to include actual data/facts/statistics in your background and purpose to add strength to your case; ex: 50% of patient deaths are preventable with better staffing (Source, date). What is the specific ratio proposed by California or other states? You do mention the ANA’s position but it would be important to highlight what is already being put in place by laws.

Design/Method: Collect data from multiple units on what the current ratios are at your facility. Develop a way to measure patient acuity or categorize units based on critical care, emergency, med/surg, step-down, etc. Suggest a different strategy that could be in the form of “Team Nursing” or mandatory ratio.

Setting: Describe the units or facility where you would implement your project.

Resources: What is required to implement this? Training, money, etc. ?

Potential Implications: How would your project specifically impact your facility?

Format: Use headings to separate sections. Do not ALL CAP title page. Lump your sentences together in a paragraph; you have too many sentences separated into their own paragraphs that could be put together.
