This week after completing your textbook readings on “The Artist and the Work of Art,” research an artist’s style of interest to you. Everyone will answer the same question written below. Your initial post should be about 350 words. Post your answer to the Module 5 discussion forum by Wednesday at midnight.
Browse through the list of artists on Google Arts & Culture. See here. Select one artist whose work you’d like to learn more about. Read the short biography on this artist and browse through the list of artworks to familiarize you with the artist’s work. How would you describe your artist’s style? Use an example of one artwork to demonstrate your observations and provide a link to it. Consider the artist’s use of materials, the visual elements and design principles to help you with your description. Then, note any terms used to classify the artist in the biography (e.g. “realist” or “romantic”). Find one scholarly source (e.g. an essay produced by a museum or educational institution) that helps you better understand this term and how it relates to your artist’s work.
