Can the rapid growth of China and India be replicated in smaller developing economies?
36069This is a term paper for a 3rd year Undergraduate DEVELOPMENT ECONOMICS course.
I want to argue that the rapid economic growth of China and India in the last twenty years owes much to the size of their economies and hence cannot be replicated in smaller economies. I want to discuss using relevant literature and data to compare the economic performance of either China or India with one of their smaller neighbours.
Want to use about 7-8 sources of which at least one should from the ones attached. Empirical analysis will be great.
Focus on a GRAVITY MODEL of economic growth among others if possible.
Assessment Criteria:
1. Command of economic theory: Can you demonstrate that you have the appropriate analytical skills to understand underlying models and hypotheses?
2. Use of evidence to support your conclusions: Are you able to bring together multiple pieces of evidence on your research question
3. Original thought: Are you able to take an original path through the research topic, making insightful connections and drawing appropriate conclusions?
4. Coherence: Are you to bring together relevant analysis and arguments in the form of a clearly structured and well organised essay?
