Further assume that your supervisor has asked you to present a high-level summary brief of this new risk management program to a group of administrative personnel from a newly created community health organization in your state who has enlisted your organization’s assistance in developing their own risk management policies and procedures.
Compose a summary brief that expands upon the elements you addressed in the Risk Management Program Analysis Part One assignment. In addition, analyze the following:
Explain the Joint Commission’s role in the evaluation of an organization’s quality management processes.
Describe the roles that different levels of administrative personnel play in establishing or sustaining operational policies that are focused on employer-employee organizational risk management policies.
Explain the relationship of risk management programs and compliance with ethical standards.

Risk management programs for new employees in health care settings
The initiation of the process beings by providing the new employee with the information about the policies and procedures set in place by risk management. The information should be clearly scripted, and should also have the information on how and who to contact in case of an emergency (risk manager, safety officer).
The second step should involve elaborating on the policies and procedures. The employee should have a clear picture the organizations mission and vision. Employee should be able to acknowledge a clear understating of polices set forth by risk management team. Employee expectation should also be clearly defined.
The third step should focus on teaching how identify and report an event to the risk management team. Adverse events could be a result of many factors, such as organizational, professional, personal, and technical ones (Cagliano, Grimaldi & Rafele, 2011). The event or incident could be related to a patient, family, peer or even self. According to Cagliano, Grimaldi & Rafele (as cited by Ross Baker et al., 2004) an adverse event could be defined as an unintended injury or complication resulting in disability, death or prolonged hospital stay that is caused by negligence of healthcare management rather than by the patient’s underlying disease process. Any professional misconduct should also be reported. The employee should be guided on how to fill out the official forms and whom to submit it to. When an incident is reported, it is crucial that a thorough investigation performed to find the root cause and plan of care is implemented.
The fourth step will be to teach the employee about HIPPA regulations. This should constitute how to access patient health information, restrictions in accessing PHI, regulations on releasing and sharing patient information, use of electronic device in patient area (restriction on sharing PHI via social media) etc.
The fifth step is to give the new employee an orientation about emergency plans- this include evacuation routes, location of fire alarms, emergency phones, codes (identify different overhead page), MSDS location, eye wash station, decontamination procedure etc.
