Assignment 2 Guidelines
This week you will complete an annotated bibliography and an outline in preparation for a paper that will be due in Module 4. Guidelines for the annotated bibliography and outline are provided below.
Annotated Bibliography
1. Please annotate ONLY five of the journal articles assigned in the first 2 Modules of this course (there are 6 articles total). Annotations for each article should consist of a MINIMUM of 150 original words (i.e., no quoted material).
2. Alphabetize the journal articles by the last name of the first author for each article.
3. Please make sure to discuss both the strengths and limitations of each article as part of your evaluation of the article. Do not discuss the credentials of the authors, where they teach, or how many publications they have.
Outline
1. Please review the sample assignment template to view an exemplary outline for this assignment.
2. You may need to skim the 5 articles from Modules 3 and 4 or read the abstracts thoroughly to include in your outline.
3. You will first provide an introduction; MAKE SURE IT INCLUDES A PRECISELY STATED THESIS STATEMENT THAT IS EXPLICITLY CLEAR.
4. Section II will be devoted to discussing early development (make sure you include and address each subsection of section II in the template), and should include a brief discussion of both Pavlov and Watson.
5. You will also choose three researchers to present in sections III, IV, and V. You may NOT choose Pavlov, Watson, or Skinner. Researchers you can choose are: Edward Thorndike, Sidney Bijou, Clark Hull, Edwin Guthrie, Richard Herrnstein, Neal Miller, J.E.R. Staddon, Edward Tolman, John Dewey and Albert Bandura. Within each section of your outline, you will provide some brief phrasing to indicate the material you will discuss related to each researcher. Please no full sentences, and especially not paragraphs within your outline as it is not a paper. The only full sentence you may include in your outline is a clear thesis statement within your introduction.
6. Make sure to cite at least 3 different articles to support your discussion for each researcher. Please feel free to cite outside articles if there is not enough content in the assigned article to support your discussion on any given researcher.
