Topic: Analysis/imagery of the suicides throughout the film.
Theme: Were the suicides viewed as redemption, freedom, or tragedy? what scenes tell us what we’re suppose to think about suicides?
For the final paper the professor needs to know:
-What works you will focus on and what aspect of the works interests you (the imagery of the suicides)
-How that aspect relates to a larger theme/element present in the work you are interested in
– Give close analysis of specific scenes and how they showcase a larger theme.
– what aspects of the film interest you? (suicides)
– what scenes tell us what we’re suppose to think about suicide?
– Is the message of the film contradicting?
– Analyze specific scenes
– do we get the directors message?
– how are scenes presented?
Rubric For Final Paper-
-Develop a thesis that has a clear argument as well as supporting evidence. Follow the logic of this claim to map out your paper and be sure to conclude with a so what? (why explore this theme?)
-Engage with 3-4 secondary sources at least 2 of which are academic, using them as evidence to support your claims about the film(s).
-Use MLA format to cite any quotations, ideas, or lines of dialogue that appear in the film, or secondary sources. Use in-text citation and include a complete Works Cited.
-Use film/literary vocabulary when appropriate.
