Throughout this course we have examined the core principles and practices of integrated cost and schedule control using Earned Value Management (EVM). In this final week, we explore emerging trends and best practices that are shaping the future of project performance management. Discuss how emerging trends such as artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, predictive analytics, real-time data integration, agile-hybrid EVM approaches, and sustainability metrics are influencing integrated cost and schedule control. Which of these trends do you believe will have the greatest impact on project success in the next 5–10 years? Referring to the case study used throughout the course, identify areas where the adoption of current or emerging best practices and tools could have improved project outcomes. How might these trends have helped detect variances earlier, enhanced forecasting accuracy, or strengthened change control? Has your overall view of integrated cost and schedule control and the value of EVM evolved since your initial post in Week 1? Explain why or why not, incorporating insights from emerging trends. Support your initial post with specific examples from the case study, course readings, and at least one additional scholarly or professional source (e.g., PMI reports, industry journals).
