Respond and contribute to the following discussion: Older adults are disproportionately affected by healthcare inequalities due to a variety of social, health-related, and economic factors (Dharmarajan et al, 2021). In the case study, J.B. is a 73-year-old widow who lives alone in an urban area. One way to reduce her risk of disparity is to consider using an Age-Friendly Health Systems-like approach to her care by using the 4Ms framework. The Age-Friendly Health Systems is an initiative “designed to curb ageism in the healthcare industry” (Milne-Tyte, 2024). The aims of an Age-Friendly Health System are to follow a set of evidence-based practices, cause no harm, and align with What Matters to older adults. The 4Ms framework encompasses What Matters, Medication, Mentation, and Mobility (Institute for Healthcare Improvement, n.d.).
