Community Hospital has been using several systems, implemented at different times, within the last 12 years. Some of those systems in but are not limited to: Registration Nursing notes . Medication administration * Computerized physician order entry o Patient care quality system which is used to run some administrative and clinical reports Clinical laboratory Radiology Pharmacy Dietary As these systems are considered outdated and considered old, maintenance for patient care quality system has become problematic. Information is not readily accessible for analysis for either business purposes or evaluation of quality of care. To ensure that Community Hospital is caring for our patients to the best of our abilities, the now outdated systems need to be updated. Technical problems that staff have with the currently outdated systems are not addressed in a timely manner. At this time, requests must go through the IT department and they take about one week to provide staff a solution. This amount of time and lack of accessibility to a patient’s records can lead to miscommunication in care, prescription errors or even harm to the patients.
