part 1 Forum: Translating Your Work for a New Audience
part 1 Forum: Translating Your Work for a New Audience
You have taken a look at all the genre options and made a choice about which one you would like to make for this class. But how exactly do you translate/transform/adapt the information from your Literature Review into these new modes and for these new audiences?
In this week’s forum, we are looking for practical suggestions for taking what you have and making it work for a different rhetorical situation. What would you change and how would you change it?
In your new thread title, put what genre you are thinking about making for this project (podcast, digital presentation, blog, etc.) so that others who are thinking of using the same genre can easily find your posts. In the body of the thread, provide some (3-5) practical suggestions for your peers about making your LR content work for this new genre and for a new audience.
For example, I might say something like: Tip #1: Use Personal Pronouns to connect with audience. In a Literature Review, we use personal pronouns (like “I” “You” “We”) rarely because academic writing isn’t supposed to be overly-personal. But in my podcast, I want the listener to feel included and invested in my topic, so I am going to talk directly to them using these kinds of personal pronouns.

Top 10 Writing Mistakes in Cybersecurity and How You Can Avoid Them”
I’m asking that you listen to the SANS podcast by well-renowned, self-taught reverse engineer Lenny Zeltser entitled “Top 10 Writing Mistakes in Cybersecurity and How You Can Avoid Them“. Since it is an archived podcast, this will require you create an account on the SANS web page (slides available on the SANS site, webcast available on YouTube here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YDnmUrcfvMo).
For this assignment, I’d like you to post two things you learned from the podcast and then your thoughts on the applicability of it what Lenny discussed. If there was anything that stood out to you, please post it here. One additional question — do you think hearing this webcast/reviewing his slides would have helped you in crafting/approaching your HW2 submissions?
