Analysis of a ubicomp product
There are 2 parts to the assignments, both should be performed in the same couples:
1. Analysis of a ubicomp product (see page 1). 20% of your grade.
2. User testing (both Value and usability) of the Fiverr website (see pages 2-8). 50% of your grade. Your final course grade also has 30% grade components of the individual quizzes performed throughout the semester. The assignment should be submitted as one PDF document, via Moodle, only one of the team’s members submits.
1. Analysis of a ubicomp product (perform in pairs) In class (lesson 4: ubiquitous computing, two ubicomp vision) we discussed the two approaches to ubiquitous computing (in short ubicomp) by Mark Weiser and Yvonne Rogers. Pick one current/upcoming technology product that belongs to the “ubiquitous computing” category (it can not be mobile app or a website, a “ubiquitous computing” product has to be integrated in the physical world in some aspect, for example a wearable device, a smart home device, or any interactive technology/device/product), and that was not analyzed in the class activity.
1. Explain, in your own words, what is the specific “ubiquitous computing” product/service you chose to focus on, and why you specifically chose that one (one paragraph).
2. Analyze the product you chose according to the Weiser vs. Rogers principles we discussed in class: is the product experience designed according to Weiser perspective/principles, Rogers perspective/principles, or both? In your answer, please shortly explain each of the two perspectives, and thoroughly explain and justify your analysis, using all the relevant concepts/principles presented/discussed in class. (up to 1 page).
2. User testing (Value and Usability) of the Fiverr website (perform in the same pairs) The goal of this assignment is to practice usability testing, document your observations, analyze test results, reach conclusions about the system’s usability, and suggest original recommendations.
