Presentation Instructions

Objective: 

To give an informational presentation to peers on the topic of one’s choice.

Over the course of the semester, you have been reporting on current events and have begun to use the library resources for research relating to your topic. Now is the time to distill your knowledge of both economics and your topic into a presentation so that others can benefit from your expertise.

Questions to answer:

Define your topic and explain how it fits into the field of economics. (5%)

For example, “monetary policy is controlling the money supply, and allows policy makers to adjust for …”

Give at least one current example of your topic. (10%)

For example, “the U.S. Federal Reserve Bank has been gently raising interest rates over the past year in order to ….”

Explain how developments in your topic could impact other areas of the economy. (10%)

• For example, “rising interest rates could cause an increase in unemployment because…”

Explain how your topic might affect individuals. (5%)

• For example, “rising interest rates make borrowing money more expensive…”
• Using your knowledge of economics, predict the best choices to be made in your topic, either by policy makers or individuals. (10%)

For example, “now would be a good time to buy certificates of deposit (CDs)…”

• Works cited. All citations should be Chicago style. (10%)
