An 85 year-old man was admitted to the hospital for hip fracture due to fall at home. He lives alone and had been incapacitated for 24 hours before a neighbor checking on him called for medical help. After examination and testing, the bone scan showed abnormal densities in the right ilium and additional hot spots in the long bones of the extremities. History of the patient revealed that he had been experiencing urinary retention problems and nocturnal x4 for some time. He had significantly slowed down his activities in the last 3 months with loss of appetite and associated weight loss. BP was 90/50. Lab tests showed a PSA off 20. Digital rectal examination revealed a palpable abnormality of the right side of the prostate.
