Willis, John, et al. “NIL Deals – the good and the bad”. Sport Policy Center, 1 July 2022, https://www.sportpolicycenter.com/news/2022/6/17/nil-deals-the-good-and-the-bad
Annotation Paragraph:
In the article posted in 2022, Mr. Willis dives a little deeper into whether NIL deals are good or bad for the college athletes and the universities they are attending. In this article he does some research and interviews and finds out that NIL deals has brought in over 500 million dollars is just under a year, which is just one of the facts that helps him conclude his thoughts that NIL deals are a good thing. Another positive aspect of his article is that the athletes are finally getting compensation for all the hard work and dedication they have put in over the years. Also even at the DII level, student athletes are having these opportunities to make money and having the proper counseling to make sure they are making smart choices. This article is relevant to my research question because it gives some direct insight into my question, Is NIL deals a good or bad thing for college athletes and the universities? The researchers answer to the question would be yes, it is beneficial, although giving some downsides to NIL deals. He thinks at the end of the day it is a good thing for not only the athletes but the universities the athletes are at as well. In the future, I will most definitely be using this source to support my position on how NIL deals are a good thing.

Annotation Paragraph:
The source I have chosen is “Debt Burden After College: the effect of student loan debt on graduates’ employment, additional schooling, family formation, and home ownership”. This source discusses the topic of how student loan debt can affect many parts of your next chapter of your life after graduation. The purpose of this source is to show how the loan debt can affect these next steps and the source claims that inflation is leading the tuition prices to rise which means you find your self in more student debt and setback further due to these costs. The authors of this source are Erin Velez, Melissa Cominole, and Alexander Bentz. Each of these authors are credible as they have a reputable background or have to through schooling and seen the effects first hand. An author’s credibility is definitely an import aspect when a student is doing a research project as a large amount of their information stems from the authors research. This source was published in 2019, this source relates to current issues of students needing as much financial aid as they can find to continue schooling. The currency of the article is important because an article from the 1980’s-2000 may include different ideas or issues than what we are experiencing right now. This source is relevant for my chosen topic as I am researching how tuition costs, international fees and student loan debt affect pre and post graduates. This source will be useful when I need to look for statistics and numbers to support my ideas. There are some limitations to this source as it includes some information from 2019 and since then there have been things that have changed especially post-pandemic.
