Project Description
Husky Air would like to have a computer-based system to keep track of all its Pilot Angels volunteers. This system would include basic information about pilots including their names, addresses, phone numbers, flight hours, and ratings. This system would also have the pilots’ aircraft information including the type of plane, aircraft identification number, engine information, and the aircraft’s capacity.
Project Measurable Organizational Value (MOV)
Husky Air will be able to provide more reliable service to its customers as a result of the new computer-based information system.
Sponsors, Targets, and Agents of Change
Change can be difficult for the project stakeholders and increases the potential for resistance and conflict (Marchewka, 2016). Change management helps with the smooth transition and implementation of the new information system (IS). As such, the Tiger Team has developed a change management plan to manage the change associated with effectively transitioning to the new IS.
Change Assessment
The Pilot Angels project has run into an issue with two employees resisting two changes that may cause problems going forward. While most of the Husky Air organization are looking forward to the Pilot Angels IS, Betty and Junior are unwilling to accept the new IS. Betty and Junior play a significant role in keeping the operations of Husky Air running. Therefore, the first step to developing a change management plan is to assess Betty and Junior’s willingness, readiness, and ability to adapt to change.
Betty has been with the organization for many years and knows more about the internal operations than anyone else on the staff. She is close to retirement and is highly respected by everyone in the company.
Junior has been with Husky Air for about three years and has an uncle with authority in the company.
Change Strategy
After carefully assessing the organization’s capability to change, the Tiger Team has decided that following a normative-reeducation approach is the most suitable strategy for change. The normative-reeducation approach states that human behavior can be changed by changing the social norms of a group (Marchewka, 2016). After learning about the two employees, the Tiger Team concluded that Husky Air has a culture problem, and only this approach focuses on the core values of the culture in the company.
Tracking Progress
The following milestones were identified to help how well the organization is adapting to the new system:
· Employees have been trained on the new computer-based system
· Betty is accepting of the new system
