Specific Purpose Statement: Today, I will inform the audience about the refugee crisis, problems attributed to the refugee crisis and how we can help refugees build a better future
I THE INTRODUCTION
A. Have you ever thought of a situation where a catastrophe such as war emerges in your native country, and all of a sudden, you lose peace, family, and livelihood to seek refuge away from home? The agony of refugees in our time is so real that even in their places of asylum, they feel the chasm of having to leave a place they called home. Imagine the trauma and disengagement from family.
B. The concept of the refugee crisis has been felt globally. Countries have been left in the adversity of receiving refugees in dangerous situations and mass numbers. Dealing with refugees is intriguing.
C. The crises of refugees have been documented in mainstream medial such as Aljazeera on the Syrian conflict and the Afghanistan war. It is very sad and traumatizing to watch.
D. The refugee crisis is a subject of a heavyweight with many humanitarian problems surrounding it. Solutions to tackle this situation need to be upheld despite the tedious effort it takes.
E. Today I will inform the audience about the refugee crisis, problems attributed to the refugee crisis and how we can help refugees build a better future.
F. First, let’s talk about the concept of the refugee crisis and the reasons behind the crisis.
II. THE BODY
A. Main Point #1
1. What is the refugee crisis? The refugee crisis is an occurrence where there is a shortage of humanitarian help to internally displaced people, asylum seekers, and migrants due to wars, violence and infringement of human rights. more than 70 million forcedly displaced people are scattered globally due to the effects of war, violation of human rights, and violence (Quoted in Shultz et al. 2020).
2. Refugees need humanitarian assistance creating a difficult situation putting pressure on governments, NGOs and civic groups. The reality is that these organizations do not have sufficient resources to provide adequate relief. The Syrian conflict is infamy, a huge representation of assault on humanity and the agony of leaving home. According to (Cheung et al. 2020), the Syrian civil war constitutes the largest refugee crisis globally, with over 6 million people displaced, with women and children being the most vulnerable population. The refugee crisis is heart wrecking, and underlying solutions need to be met.
Transition statement : Now that we know about the concept of the refugee crisis in-depth, let’s look at the problems associated with it.
B. Main point #2
1. The scale and scope of problems faced by refugees are overwhelming. It is beyond mortality and displacement. According to (Hunter 2016), refugees lack access to proper health care leading to a rise in infectious and chronic diseases. Basic needs such as food and shelter have become a problem.
2. The trauma of war-related brutality or violence is a salient agent for psychological conditions. Refuges are faced with poor sanitation, overcrowding and a lack of enough water and necessities (Garsow et al. 2021). Women and children are a risk of abuse, for instance, sexual harassment, yet they have no place to hide. The refugee crisis is a problem that affects everyone, and acts that derail humanity are our concern, and we need a solution to these problems.
Transition statement Now that we have talked about the inhuman act of the refugee crisis and its problems, we need solutions and measures to curb this menace.
C. Main point #3
1. We need to share the burden of the global refugee crisis. The pressure caused by a massive influx of people in a country is overwhelming, and there is a need for joint efforts to curb this global crisis. The UNHCR promotes three durable core solutions as part of its mandate; voluntary repatriation, local integration, and resettlement(Janmyr 2018).
2. Asylum is a human right, and world leaders should not allow derail of humanity by allowing the refugee crisis to unfold. Governments, civic groups, and NGOs need to prioritize essential services such as food, health, and shelter. It is an international duty to help refugees through emotional and financial support by donating to various organizations and groups to curb the refugee crisis.
III CONCLUSION
A. In conclusion, I now believe we are now aware of the concept of the refugee crisis. It is a global disaster, and few people cannot fight the war since it is overwhelming.
B. The refugee crisis is a subject of a heavyweight with many humanitarian problems surrounding it. There is a need to find solutions despite the tedious effort it takes.
C. The problems of refugees are an injustice to humanity and need to be reconsidered. A massive influx of displaced people causes the refugee crisis due to violent wars and the infringement of human rights. It causes massive problems, as mentioned. This humanitarian problem needs solutions from all stakeholders.
D. The world needs to know this and respond effectively in curbing the menace at all costs. It is a global crisis, and we should share the burden.
