However, once you know him, the humanitarian and activist in him is revealed, and one understands how such a person can have so much passion while maintaining a modest and calm composure to those around him. By being different on the outside compared to the inside, Robert?s life is a contradiction, whereby people are usually expected to behave based on who they are inside, whereby, for an activist like Robert, he is expected to be noisy and engaging instead of being withdrawn. Thopposing traits in one person makes Robert an interesting person worthy of a biography, especially in relation to the role he plays in making the lives of others better through various activities in life. Some of thactivities include activism, philanthropy and participation in community-based activities that are aimed at helping those in need, offering opportunities or benefiting the community as a whole. Modern society, especially at its current stage of civilization, has high levels of variations in terms of people?s levels income and living environment, which results in lack of equitable treatment based on socioeconomic, sociocultural, racial and age differences (P?rez, Fortuna, and Alegria 425). While thvariations are not the fault of one person, they are debilitating to both individuals and society in general, and action is necessary if the world is to become a better place for everyone rather than a select few. In order to reverse the negative effects caused by thshortcomings in society, some people leave the comfort of their own comfortable life with the aim of taking a stand in an attempt to convince governments and other society agents to change. Thstands usually occur in the form of participation in public demonstrations, online surveys, and complaints and suggestions in online forums among other forms of approaches to forcing social change through governments and the community (Yang 154). In spite of the many available forums for expressing himself, Robert chooses to use online means to express ideas in an attempt to encourage others in joining him either in telling it to others, or taking action in case some of audience has the ability to change. In order to access information about causes that naddressing, Robert scours through sources of information, both in physical life, virtual life, the media (McClinton) or the lives of others, then decides the best strategy for forwarding the information to others who may not have access to thinformation sources. After identifying issues of concern in relation to inequality and discrimination, Robert posts in blog, participates in online forums, and uses social media networking sites like Facebook and Twitter (Robert). By so doing, he can communicate with other people with similar interests regardless of geographical limitations, which ensueven distribution of information and interests globally. Communicating with others about issues that face our world usually has the effect of resulting in change, and although tchange may not be immediate, awareness paves a path for change to be implemented in the future when all the necessary variables are in place. For instance, complaining about oppression by dictators and other authoritarian leaderships creates awareness both at a global level and in the affected countries, but tdoes not have the immediate effect of causing change in the said countries. However, once a certain level of awareness is achieved, and citizens of those countries are tired of the unfair nature of their society, change can occur, usually in the form of government change to ones that address the needs of their people. In addition to online crusades in an attempt to convince society to strive towards and enforce equality, Robert?s generosity and empathy to the plight of others have pushed him to become a philanthropist, which means that not only does he communicate about equality to the world, but also takes measuwithin reach to make the world a better place. Tmakes him one of the few activists whose activities go beyond antagonizing the establishment to taking action aimed towards doing good for others who are in less fortunate circumstances (Carnegie Corporation of New York 1). From earnings, he contributes some money to various charities including those involved in environmental and wildlife conservation, feeding the starving in third world countries, constructing houses for the homeless and those who have been struck by natural disasters (Ghimire and Pimbert 98). In addition, he donates clothes, usually old ones or new ones, to collection points for people who cannot afford clothes, which puts him in a position where he can help people beyond giving them money. The clothes and other valuables offered to others is highly helpful to the people who do not have the discipline or shopping experience required to buy what they need, but rather waste any money they get on unimportant luxuries. In addition to clothes and money donations for the poor, Robert also donates time by travelling to attend events held by many of the charities where he is an active member (Robert). Consequently, through philanthropy, Roberts makes life easier for those who are unfortunate and their world is better because of ability to endure some discomfort for the sake of others. Robert may volunteer time, money and possessions for the sake of the environment and people who are less fortunate, but he also commits time for events that make environment better in many ways. Due to generous nature and tendency to help out others without even having close relations, one would think Robert is a very wealthy person with lots of money to spend on others, but, with close observation, tis not the case. Robert is not a rich person, even by definition, and most of the time and money he spends on others is as a result of sacrifice, whereby he denies himself some luxuries in order to be or help to others. As mentioned earlier, tsacrifice goes beyond helping others to environmental conservation efforts, both in the form of involvement in global charities and involvement in local environmental drives (Grand Children Foundation). For instance, he organizes and participates in community activities within locality, whereby he collaborates with other community members for activities that are of communal rather than personal benefit. In addition to activities to better local society, he collaborates with others in activities that lift the spirits of locals and enhances camaraderie primarily as a result of a feeling of communal productivity. For instance, he participates in events like feeding the homeless, participating in blood donation events, cleaning up the local environment and offering free medical care for orphans. Thactivities may be of help to the homeless, orphans, the sick or the environment, but they also benefit participants due to the health and psychological benefits of such an involvement. Tbiography may seem like too much praise for one person, but once Robert?s background once growing up is understood, compassion towards others and the environment becomes clearer. For instance, he grew up in a low income family where parents were unemployed and worked hard to even ftheir family, which means he never got the opportunity to go to good schools, eat good food or wear good clothes. In spite of thshortcomings, Robert managed to earn scholarships through high school and college based on exemplary academic performance, whereby he managed to become a medical doctor. Now, he applies skills and energy towards helping others who did not have luck or academic prowess, which is way of giving back to society and ensuring that world becomes better than he found it (Robert). Based on the results of activities, the world is a better place because of Robert, especially as a result of communication through online media and the action he takes as a result of emphatic and philanthropic nature. In conclusion, Robert is a distinguished person whose actions have made the world a better place both in locality and beyond, whereby the lives of endangered animal species, orphans, homeless people and other subjects of causes are better because of participation. In cases where he cannot get directly involved, he uses social media and blog to communicate thoughts in an attempt to get others to notice shortcomings in society and make amends.
