42413Choose one country that you might like to visit. Select a duration for your trip between two and six weeks, and then choose a number of participants between 5 and 10 people. Suppose one goal of your group is to speak to every adult citizen in the country. How many citizens must each missionary need to talk to per day, per hour, and per second to speak to every adult citizen in that country? Is that goal reasonable?

Here is an example to follow. If a country has a population of 156,000,000 people and I have a group of 4 missionaries traveling for 1 week.
First divide the population amongst the 4 missionaries. 156,000,000/4 = 39,000,000 is the number of people each missionary would need to talk to.
Next determine the number of people each missionary would need to talk to daily. Since I am traveling for a week (7days) we have 39,000,000/7 = 5,571,428 people per day.
Now we determine the number of people per hour. Since there is 24 hours in a day I divide by 24. Maybe you won’t work for 24 hours a day, so you can modify this portion. 5,571,428/24=232,143 people per hour.
The last calculation is determining the number of people per second. Notice we skipped min, so we have 3600 seconds per hour. 232,143/3600 = 64 people per second.
The second part of the discussion question is for you to determine if your calculations are a reasonable task for your mission trip.
