Introduction – introduce your nursing pioneer and provide a brief overview of their educational experience. Judith J. Warren started her nursing career in a rehab unit. She obtained her PhD, RN, BC , FAAN, and FACMI professor at the University of Kansas School of Nursing. She was a Director of Nursing Informatics in the KU Center for Health Informatics and member of the National Committee on Vital Health Statistics (NCVHS) and co-chair of its Standards Subcommittee (Nursing Informatics Innovators: Judith J. Warren, n.d.). Career trajectory – describe what led your pioneer to the field of informatics. While teaching, she asked herself a question about what the best way to teach was and what factors contributed to it. She met a nursing mathematician at the University that was able to help answer her question and taught her about quality improvements through informatics. That opened a new world for her to explore the developing of standards and supporting nursing practices. She also wanted nursing terminology to be recognized as it was physician driven.
