Hello Anastasia, thank you for your contribution to this important discussion post. I agree that healthcare is moving toward nearly all digital. Being old and working with paper, I am scared. The reason is not because of the burgeoning technology. A monkey could learn how to use a computer. What scares me is the personal touch that comes from nursing. We are a hands-on career. We need to touch, listen, prod, and connect with people to help doctors get the information they need to diagnose and help patients. With the huge push toward technology wea re taking the personality out of nursing. We use Rovers (handheld smartphones) to scan patients and meds. While I am grateful for the safeguard, it is easy to bypass the safety when there are scanning issues, and people are always confused by the scanning system. I have had numerous people ask me why I am “taking a picture of my information”. I spend more time in my day explaining that we are only scanning their barcode to make sure we are giving the correct medication to the correct patient. The powers that be really need to come up with a solution that helps to keep
