Interviewees
The interviewees I selected are my friends who are aware of leadership and have good experience with a leader. One of my interviewees was a male friend and the other two were females. I selected them because they consented to the interview and wanted to share their experiences with their leaders. They were also aware of the value of strong leadership in every aspect of life.
Summary of the Interviews
The interviews indicate that effective leadership traits are infectious. A positive leadership style has a positive impact on the followers and results in better coordination and relationships between team members. The interviewees indicated that the most effective leadership style is transformative and charismatic leadership. This leadership approach is revered because it inspires followers to succeed by showing followers that they are an important part of the team. It is also characterized by shared decision-making between diverse stakeholders. Autocratic leadership impacts followers negatively because it does not involve followers in decision-making. It also pays little attention to the needs of the followers (Chukwusa, 2018). A leader is supposed to be emphatic and open to the opinions and ideas of the followers. An effective leader should also handle emotions and conflicts amicably. A leader is not supposed to impose his opinions and ideas on others. A good leader should mentor, inspire, listen, and collaborate with followers to make a productive team. A good leader instills positive values and skills such as resilience, hard work, positive thinking, and teamwork in his followers.
