Essay Prompt(s) Please touch on a couple aspects from each prompt:
1. How are James Baldwin’s thoughts on being a Black Man in America similar to what our country is currently experiencing with the fight for equality and racial justice? What are your thoughts of James Baldwin’s responses to all of the moderators?
2. Does James Baldwin’s survivor accounts of being Black in America provide an overwhelming burden of proof of a national/global attempt to subjugate/repress African, Black, and Indigenous American groups (from the 18th century to the present day)?
If so, how do we overcome to end such practices?
If not, how have laws and the global communities feelings, perspectives, and ideologies (set of beliefs) changed

Research Section:
Has required number of credible sources in your research paper.
Sources support your research paper’s main argument and sequential arguments.
You have a clear and concise argument that is supported throughout your paper.
Your paper follows the sequential order of your research questions and outline.
You have avoided making fatal logical fallacies within the framework of your argument.
You have been able to successfully prove your thesis statement and main argument throughout the body of your research paper and your conclusion paragraph reflects as such.
Each of these ten points will be broken down into three sections when I grade.
Section 1: I will be evaluating your formatting, spelling/grammar, proper usage of citations, and appropriate paper length.
Section 2: I will be evaluating your ability to construct a clear, original thesis and argument that is consistent throughout your paper.
In order to do this, you will need to have plenty of supporting details in your body paragraphs. A successful essay usually talks about three or four supporting details that help prove your paper’s main argument.
I will also be evaluating the method in which you prove your thesis statement and main argument. In order to do this effectively you will need to provide in text citations from both our readings as well as from your own outside research.
Being able to prove your thesis, main argument, and point of view is essential in writing a successful essay.
Section 3: I will be evaluating the flow of your paper. What I will be looking at is how your sentence structure is constructed and whether or not your essay progresses and develops throughout your body paragraphs.
Section 4: I will be evaluating how you incorporated the Research Guidelines section into your paper. (Following directions, using the proper amount of sources, and, following your research framework.)
Section 5: I will be evaluating the effectiveness of your argument. (Did you use the appropriate sources to provide sequential evidence/support of your main idea throughout your paper? Did your evidence, analysis, and view point support your idea? Was your argument convincing?)
Note: The effectiveness of each section of this grading rubric will determine your final grade for the assignment. Each section has a maximum of 20 points. (20 points in all five sections will receive a grade of 100%.)
