Family health is important as it pertains to the lifestyle and inherited genes of that family. There is risk of inherited diseases or lifestyle causing certain diseases. Also, influences amongst family members can lead to certain health issues. There are ways to promote health. One is through health communication meaning by informing and influencing the individual on their health. Health communication includes verbal and written strategies to influence and empower individuals, populations, and communities to make healthier choices (RHIhub,2021). Another is through health education by implenting disease prevention and promoting health. Health education presents information to target populations on particular health topics, including the health benefits/threats they face, and provides tools to build capacity and support behavior change in an appropriate setting (RHIhub, 2021). Additionally, there is the policy, systems and environmental aspect of it. Policy is by setting goals that is created by organization or agencies. An example would be a smoke free zone area. Systems change is another way to promote health. Within an organization, systems change affects organizational purpose, function, and connections by addressing organizational culture, beliefs, relationships, policies, and goals (RHIhub, 2021). Some examples of this is by having a health promotion model, new technology to be implented and creating training/certificate for a policy. Environmental change invovles the environment, economy and social aspects. It can be used by promoting bike riding or using more of the green parks, a way to stay active. A nurse can determine how to help a patient promote health by educating them in a way they understand and inspect their will to do so. Use clear language for the patient to understand. Examine what learning style they have and apply it for them. For example, using a simple list or graphs/pictures can help the patient understand the information given to them. Educating the patient for disease prevention and health promotion takes patience and understanding of the patients comprehension.
