The American Dream: Explain how the novel does or does not demonstrate the death of the American Dream. What does the novel offer about American identity? (Reference the characteristics of the American Dream within the body of your paper.)
Strong women: There are several women in the novel, and they all have different qualities. Define what a strong woman is like and which woman in the novel best fits those characteristics.
Is it love, or is it something else? Is what Gatsby feels for Daisy love, obsession, affection, or objectification? Consider discussing whether or not Gatsby is really capable of love, given his history and characteristics.

Nick Carraway: At the end of Chapter 3, Nick says: I am one of the few honest people that I have ever known. When you consider his role as narrator, do you believe that he is honest? Are his depictions of others honest? If he is not honest, why does he believe he is so honest?
The anti-hero: Discuss whether or not Gatsby is an anti-hero. Be sure to research and define anti-hero in your introduction, and refer to the term anti-hero throughout the essay while you support your claim.
Corruption & Wealth: Discuss how the novel illustrates the dehumanizing and corrupting nature of wealth (consider examining characters, plot, symbols, etc.). Explain the theme of the corruption of people and society through an examination of characters in the novel who are corrupt.
