Assignment Submission:
You need to include a Works Cited page if you got information from any source other than your own brain.
This assignment is meant to be fun, creative, and informative. You will be applying concepts learned about rhyme to what you’ve learned about an important historical figure in the history of hip hop culture.
Assignment instructions:
Watch the video (see below).
Read the articles about C. Delores Tucker (see below).
Write an original rhyme about C. Delores Tucker and her Anti-rap crusade.
You must address the following subjects in your rhyme:
Who was C. Delores Tucker?
How did she get involved in the controversy in gangsta rap? (Hint: it has to do with a family member)
What were the terms of her criticism of gangsta rap? (Why did she have so much beef with gangsta rap?)
How did she personalize her attacks? (Who did she target?)
How did rap music respond to her, especially leading rappers like Tupac Shakur?
Instructions:
Your ORIGINAL rhyme must have 4 groupings of 4 Stanzas each.
You must use a different color font to identify the three types of rhyme… slant rhyme, perfect rhyme, and multi-syllable rhyme and provide a COLOR CODED KEY listing the color and type of rhyme (your choice of colors).
You must group the rhyme in an organized fashion of 4 stanzas as I have done below.
Your Original Rhyme must have at least 2 pairs of slant rhyme, and 1 pair of multi-syllable rhyme. The rest can be perfect rhymes. You can have additional pairs of slant or multi-syllable rhyme if you’d like.
You must identify the different types of rhyme with a different font color and include a key that identifies which color represents which type of rhyme.
EXAMPLES OF RHYME:
Example of two groupings (you will have 4 of these groupings, 4 stanzas in each group) The Slant rhyme is identified in bold with green font, perfect rhymes are identified in bold with black font and the multi-syllable rhyme is in bold blue font.
Group 1 Example:
We stood in the Line (Stanza 1)
To make up a Rhyme (Stanza 2)
We had it done in a Flash (Stanza 3)
And then we stepped on the Gas (Stanza 4)
Group 2 Example:
The dog bit my cat (Stanza 1)
While I hit the hi-hat. (Stanza 2)
A hip hop dis that I made (Stanza 3)
Writin’ a crackin’ pattern in the shade.(Stanza 4)
TYPES OF RHYME:
What is a slant rhyme?
A slant rhyme sounds similar (same vowel sound) but doesn’t share an ending consonant sound.

What is a perfect rhyme? A perfect rhyme is the most basic rhyme. The endings of words sound exactly the same and often end in the same consonant sound.
hurricane/vain
cat/hat
What is a Multi-syllable rhyme? A rhyme that is more than 1 syllable long. Notice how more than one word rhymes in the phrase (hi/my, cat/hat).
hi-hat
my cat
Here is a longer multi-syllable rhyme example. Notice how three words rhyme in each phrase (bit/hit, my/hi, and cat/hat)
bit my cat
hit the hi-hat
