Cicero In Abbott’s chapter, “Interpreting Narrative,” he defines interpretation as a “compound of ideas and judgment.” Understanding Abbott’s idea of an implied author, along with his idea of a narrator, discuss how Jake’s role as narrator informs his own character. What does he reveal about himself, in his role as narrator? Use other ideas from the chapter, such as gaps, overreading, and themes and motifs to explain. For example, what is he not saying which seems to reveal, or hint at his beliefs, ideas, or perhaps biases?
