Determine how his or her culture tends to view nurses. In your discussion: Discuss how the perceptions of the interviewee influence his or her health behavior, including when he or she seeks help and the type of practitioner he or she consults. Describe how his or her perceptions differ from your own. Describe the strategies you could employ to promote the delivery of culturally competent care. Topic 2 Which philosophy/conceptual framework/theory/middle-range theory describes nursing in the way you think about it? Discuss how you could utilize the philosophy/conceptual framework/theory/middle-range theory to organize your thoughts for critical thinking and decision making in nursing practice.

Cultural background indicate many things from a contextual point of view.

It may be the locality or the region from where an individual belongs. It means that what are the rituals, how people eat, talk, greet, dance,sing, stand, sit, behave and much more.

It may also touch upon the background of an individual apart from where he/she stays. This is to understand the effect of upbringing, education, family atmosphere and other such factors , on the thinking and views of an individual.

The bottomline is that wherever you go, people have certain way of doing things. One fits him/herself in that aura and becomes a ‘cultural’ being.

Your cultural background simply put is your ethnic background. For instance, my ethnic background is Fulani, thus my cultural background is also Fulani (Pulaagu).

If your ethnic background is Arab, then your cultural background is Arab. If your ethnic background is Amhara (Ethiopia) then your cultural background is Amhara. If your ethnic background is Japanese, then your cultural background is Japanese. If your ethnic background British, then your cultural background is British. If your ethnic background is “American” which is debatable as the Natives were the original people in the Americas, then your cultural background is “American”. Keep in mind that some of these “ethnic groups” like Japanese also serve as Nationalities as well.

Language
Cultural Practises
Food

Cultures typically have religion in common but not all the time. For instance, there are Arabs that are Muslim and there are Arabs that are Christian
