INTRODUCTION
Challenges are inevitable in human life (Engel, 2007). We face challenges that may be sometimes easy and quite difficulty. In the quest to solve a problem irrespective of how difficult it may be, a person must be able to think critically as well as be creative in order t establish an effective solution. In addition, it is important for a person to examine and investigate every idea they may have towards solving a problem (Engel, 2007).
The process of solving a problem involves four distinctive processes of creative process. They are searching for challenge, investigating the problem, expressing the problem, and establishing and introducing a solution to the problem in diverse ways. The ability to identify a problem, get beyond it, and establishing conclusive solution before it can become crises is a major way of overcoming a challenge (Engel, 2007).
Stages
Usually, creativity does not just occur rather it requires intense thinking and the ability to oversee a little problem and be able to overcome it before it becomes a major crisis. According to Liane Gabora a psychologist from Brussels free University, creativity is a cognitive process which entails producing novel ideas or transforming old ideas into new ones. As documented in chapter five, it is evidently hard to solve crises if you do not understand it. Based on this, the first process of solving problem includes utmost preparation (Polya, 2008). The first step in the creative process begins with looking for challenges. Based on the fact that no one is invulnerable challenges, people do not have to go looking for challenges because they inevitable in human life. Usually, most of these challenges we face in our daily lives can seem minor and might be hard to overcome if people do not have a good approach at them (Engel, 2007). Based on this, it is advisable to learn to deal with them To bring the first step of the creative process into your life, you need to constantly search for these challenges, and if no soon as they are noticed.
Expression of a problem is an integral organ in solving a problem. This is the second step in creative process (Polya, 2008). Establishing and devising ways on how to overcome a challenge is arguably more important than just staring at it. The third process in solving problem process entails investigating the problem. According to psychologists, most difficult situations in life are result of the past and present actions. Psychologists argue that, in order to be able to effectively resolute such challenges we ought to investigate our current and past deeds. This requires bringing in your peers and raising the issue.
Difficult moments in life come with astounding impact and come in diverse forms (Polya, 2008). Socio-psychologists believe that a person should never attempt to resolve a problem with a single idea. This is the fourth and final stage that articulates that, the ability to approach a problem with diverse options is the best way to resolve a problem effect effectively. Naturally, whenever people are faced with difficulty situations they tend to have only one solution to the problem which they realize was a big upon being overcome by the situation.
Exemplary situations can include difficulty in trouble shooting a little problem or completing an assignment in time when a person performs research, develops goals (Polya, 2008). It is during this stage during this stage, she may perform research, creates goals, organize thoughts and begins to brainstorm in the quest to be able to solve the likely to prepare for a marketing campaign by carrying out market research and formulating diverse ways prior to full marketing campaign period.
Incubation or brainstorming period is a critical processing problem solving and may determine if a person will be able to overcome the challenge (Polya, 2008). According to professor Gabora, during this process a person does not physically get engaged to the problem but they always relay it on the back of their minds relaying ways on how to overcome it.
Personal Challenge
No one is invulnerable to difficulties in life. The most challenging task that I faced was when I first enrolled to the SEAL Service. Before people join the service, they have no idea of how disciplined and highly demanding the job of a seaman can be. Being brought up in a hostile environment that accommodated the biological principle of survival for the fittest, it was hard for me to adapt SEAL rules.
No one wants to fail this gave me the courage to continue my stay at the SEAL training camp. Having the right knowledge on how to solve problems helped me in overcoming challenges that I faced as a recruit at the SEAL. Firstly, as earlier articulated in this essay it is hard to overcome a challenge before you can establish it. The ability to identify a problem, getting beyond common, and establishing conclusive answer as well as issues before they can become crises is a major way of overcoming a challenge (Nyenhuis, 2003).
