Please use Chapter 17 in the textbook, Understanding Child Abuse and Neglect, 10th ed. Crosson-Tower, C. (2021). Pearson) as well as at least three other scholarly articles (peer reviewed), and respond to the following reflective questions.
· What are the risks and challenges individuals will face working in Child Protection?
· What can agencies and systems do to support the health and wellness of individuals working in Child Protection?
· What can individuals do support their own health and wellness when working in a system where exposure to trauma of others is “part of the job?”
· Based on your research and review, reflect on this hypothetical scenario. You are in a court room (civil court) and reporting back to the Judge after three months of child protection services for a child who was victimized and experienced both physical abuse and neglect. Mother has been responsive, however, has struggled to maintain sobriety which is a primary requirement of their family plan and in a recent supervised visit there was concern that she may be under the influence of illicit drugs. Child is clearly attached to her mother and all parties want reunification to be the end goal. At this time, it is not your recommendation that the supervised visitation be pulled back although you know mother wants supervised visitation to end and to have her child back home. You will have to make your recommendation, in court, with mother present. The child will be in the hallway/room outside of the court room as well. What steps will you take to prepare yourself beforehand? How will you prepare your court recommendations? How will you prepare for what may be an emotional response and an intense court date? What steps will you take to ensure your health and wellness?
