For my policy analysis paper, I have chosen H.R. 2487: the Transgender Health Care Access Act. This legislation is designed to address gaps in medical coverage and promote equitable access to health care services for transgender individuals, ensuring they are not subject to discrimination (Balint.house.gov. 2025). The bill was introduced in March 2025 by Representative Becca Balint, a Democrat from Vermont. Currently, 27 states have enacted some form of restriction on medical care for transgender youth (Human Rights Campaign, 2025).

The expected future of this policy/policy issue in terms of improving the health and well-being of state and/or national citizens as well as its impact on the nursing profession
A plan for policy implementation including ethical decision-making targeting equity
A plan for evaluation of the impact of the policy and ideas for modification of the policy issue based on policy processes and outcomes
A description of the role that nursing and collaboration with other disciplines will play in ensuring that this policy/policy issue is properly implemented and evaluated so that it may achieve its desired impact and add value to state and/or national healthcare
A discussion of ways nurses can play a leadership role in health policy formation, implementation, and evaluation
