thesis document
13571Assignment Instructions:
In this assignment, you will work on the initial draft of “Chapter 1: Introduction” for your thesis. You are expected to submit your entire thesis document, including all previously submitted sections (e.g., Title Page, Copyright Page, Table of Contents, etc.), including any revisions based on previous feedback from your instructor. You should also add a References section at the end of your document and begin compiling an APA-formatted reference list to include all references you cite in your Chapter 1. If you have any tables or figures, make sure you add the List of Tables and/or List of Figures after your Table of Contents (See Appendices 7 & 8, respectively, for how to format the List of Tables and List of Figures).
Chapter 1: Introduction
Your Introduction chapter should serve as a compelling and informative starting point for your thesis. It should include the following sections:
Background of the Topic:
Provide an overview of the research topic and its significance within the broader field.
Highlight any relevant background information, historical context, or previous research that led to your study (this is not a complete literature review, but only an overview of key literature that guided your topic selection and research questions).
Statement of the Problem:
Clearly articulate the research problem or question(s) you are addressing.
Statement of the Purpose:
Clearly state the purpose of your research and what you aim to achieve.
Research Questions:
List the specific research questions that will guide your study.
Significance of the Study:
Explain why your research is important and the impact it may have on the field or practical applications.
Discuss the gap in existing literature that your research aims to fill.
Definitions of Unclear Terms:
Define any terms or concepts that might be unclear to your readers.
Limitations/Delimitations:
Discuss the limitations or delimitations of your study, including any factors that may affect the scope or generalizability of your findings.
Assumptions:
Clearly state any assumptions you are making in your research.
Submission Instructions:
Submit your Chapter 1: Introduction in the same Word document you created during Week 1 for your Thesis Preliminary Pages. This document will now become your Thesis document. It should include all previously submitted sections with any revisions.
Please ensure that you adhere to the rubric’s criteria and provide a comprehensive “Chapter 1: Introduction” that includes the specified sections. Additionally, revise and improve earlier chapters (in this case, just the Title Page and Table of Contents) in response to previous feedback. If you have any questions or need further clarification, feel free to ask.
