Children have a 50/50 change of having the gene and most do not experience first symptoms of hearing loss, tinnitus, or balance problems until late teens or early 20’s. Kevin says he does not want to be tested because he does not want to be labeled “sick” by his teammates on the high school varsity basketball team.
