My chosen historical figure is Napoleon Bonaparte. He was an extraordinary military and political mind who completely reshaped European life and ultimately changed the world. Other then his military prowess and strategic mind he also had natural ambition and charisma that inspired loyalty from both the people of France but also his soldiers. His leadership style would probably be an authoritative leadership style as he was ultimately, a dictator. He may have had a clear vision of the future of his country and possessed the confidence of his people he was still a tyrant who used the military might of France to conquer most of Europe and topple its existing monarchies.

His personality played a large role in his success and ultimately his downfall. While he was intelligent and charismatic and had fierce determination he also had a horrible ego, which mixed with his ambition led him to overreach as seen in his famous invasion of Russia. His fierce ego, mixed with his authoritative leadership style led to the famous derogatory term called “Napoleon complex” often attributed to short bossy people (even though Napoleon was not short for the time period).
