Part I: Cover Letter, Part II: Elevator Speech
Create a 1-page cover letter that includes the following:
Describe your personal leadership philosophy.
Justify how your leadership style and emotional intelligence contribute to your personal leadership philosophy.
Part II: Elevator Speech
Congratulations! You have been offered the position of care manager. Because having a written leadership philosophy is so highly valued in this environment, you must be able to refine your personal leadership philosophy to its essence so that you can communicate it to staff members and others in a succinct, cogent, and clear fashion. This briefer statement of your leadership philosophy will inspire organizational leaders, cue your staff to your expectations, and enable you to create a culture of accountability among your staff.
Provide a 30-second recorded elevator speech that persuasively communicates your personal leadership philosophy to staff and organizational leaders. Access the following resources to understand elevator speeches. Your final submission needs to be in one of the following formats: SWF, MPG, MPEG, RM, MP3, MP4, M4V, M4A, AVI, WAV, RAM, ASF, MOV, or RA. (30-second recording of elevator speech)

Part III: Leadership Philosophy Handout for Staff Meeting
Now that you are beginning the new job, it is important to anticipate the common issues that regularly affect the care manager position and to analyze actions that will demonstrate how your personal leadership philosophy can be applied. For a meeting with your new staff, you will choose an issue to use as an example of how you will formulate such actions, and you will provide this example in a handout for your staff.
First, select one of the following issues to address:
Governance
Quality of care
Evidence-based protocols
Culture of accountability
IT best practices
Patient privacy
Now, construct a workplace scenario that presents the issue that you have chosen from the above list as a challenging situation in the workplace. Include the following elements in your scenario and analysis:
A description of the issue as a challenging work situation.
A description of actions you will take as care manager to address the issue/work situation.
An explanation of how the specific actions that you describe demonstrate your leadership philosophy, your leadership style, and elements of your emotional intelligence.
