13127Quality management really is the core of success for any organization, and Deming’s 14 Points highlight so many practical ways to make that happen. In my experience, the point I’ve seen most often in action is “Institute training on the job.” At my last job, we had regular on-the-job training sessions where managers would walk us through new procedures or tools. For example, when we switched to a new project management software, the company set aside time for hands-on training, which made the transition much smoother and kept everyone on the same page.

The point that stands out as the most impactful for improving quality is “Drive out fear.” When employees aren’t afraid to speak up about mistakes or suggest improvements, the whole organization benefits. I saw this in action when one of my coworkers pointed out a recurring error in our production process. Instead of blaming anyone, the leadership team thanked them and worked on fixing the system. That shift in culture—where people felt safe to share—made a huge difference in our quality outcomes.

As for quality methodology, my current workplace uses Lean Six Sigma. They focus a lot on eliminating waste and making processes more efficient. For instance, we recently tackled how long it was taking to complete client onboarding. By analyzing the bottlenecks, we streamlined the steps, cutting down time by almost 30%. It’s rewarding to see how these changes improve not just the workflow but also the client experience.
