I am currently working as a registered behavior technician (RBT), providing therapy services for children with disabilities in daycare and homes. One of my professional goals is to become a behavioral analyst, the Certification of the Behavior Analysis Board (BCBA, for its acronym in English) for which one of the requirements to achieve is to have a minimum of a graduate degree (for example, master’s or doctorate) in an acceptable field The study of a qualified institution and the field of study of this master’s degree (education) is accepted by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board, Inc. (BACB). Considering also that the master’s degree in special education is a great opportunity to continue acquiring knowledge and theoretical-practical experiences that will allow me to reach educational and advisory skills, as well as develop myself in the field of research in the development procedures to instruct students with exceptional needs within the education system; and to be able to become a culturally competent educator, able to respond to the needs of children with exceptionalities in grades K-12.
