Option 1: Culture in Psychopathology
Consider different societal/cultural factors which can influence abnormal psychology or behaviors. Select themes present in the topics we have discussed this term and discuss how they might be considered in different ways when you bring in cultural and societal factors to the mix of topics. This can include gender identity, sexual orientation, and racial/ethnic identity which are all different layers of individual identity and cultural presentation. It is encouraged that you select specific themes and cultures from across the globe to best address each of these points.

Option 2: Current Events in Psychopathology
Conduct an online search of current events related to the field of abnormal psychology (AKA psychopathology). Find a minimum of three (3) articles you want to summarize and discuss.

Option 3: Religion and Psychopathology
Religion has often been used to convey views regarding mental illness. These views have evolved in different societies, while others have held fast to their views. Select religious views in one or two different religious works which analyze or prescribe how mental illness should be viewed or treated. Discuss how religious views of mental illness has influenced the diagnostic processes used in psychopathology, treatment selection and treatment successes with different clients. How do you see religion as a factor in the treatment of mental illness now? If you were to go back in time 100 years, how do you think you might have regarded mental illness based on your religious beliefs?

You are to create a case study which examines a mental disorder we study this term. In the case study you will:
Describe a fictional mental health therapy client whom you feel meets DSM criteria for at least one of the mental illness covered in our textbooks and course materials.
Outline and explain the symptoms related to the disorder
Discuss the background story for your imaginary client
Recommend treatment options based on what you learn throughout the term.
Support your points with at least two peer-reviewed journal articles. You will be required to use APA formatting for your paper. You are NOT required to include an abstract. You are required to include a running head and pagination.
