Create a hypothetical scenario of an officer pulling someone over for suspected DUI.
Describe what the officer would do using this technique to try and establish probable cause for an arrest for DUI.

When you create your scenario, be realistic.
DRE’s are issued a kit containing this equipment when they get their certification, but weather conditions may prohibit this, the suspect may not be cooperative, the suspect may be viewed as a threat, and they don’t have a convenient “black room” on the side of the road either.
So, what typically happens is they do enough of these 12 steps to establish probable cause and stop at that point or if the suspect is fully cooperative and will voluntarily go to headquarters, then the officer might be able to do all 12 steps once they are in a controlled environment.
