Each day is composed of certain components, periods of time, that almost always occur each day in the same basic order. There is a flow to the day.
Assignment Expectations
This Daily Schedule for a PRESCHOOL Classroom – that is developmentally appropriate for children three-four years of age. Children do NOT sit in desks, children do NOT do worksheets or workbooks, and children do NOT have required homework in an excellent, developmentally appropriate classroom. |
You will create a Daily Schedule for a full day (7:00am-6:00pm/including lunch) for children that are three to four years old.
This schedule must be based on the ideas about the developmental needs and abilities, interests of young children that have been presented in class and the articles provided.
Requirements: The written information must be written in complete sentences. The information provided must be written in a manner that will be interesting for parents, families, administrators, and visitors to read and understand. NO BULLETS. When communicating the learning taking place, the information must reflect knowledge of child development and be developmentally appropriate.
As children learn through active engagement in child-directed activities, there should be a limited amount of teacher-directed group work.

- The presentation must be professional, attractive, and aesthetically pleasing
- As children learn through active engagement in child directed activities, there should be a limited amount of teacher directed group work.
TIMES: Your schedule should have specific times listed for the different time periods of the day. (This project is not about the children you are now working with, or the limitations of a program you are working in or have visited. Be creative. Include large blocks of time for uninterrupted play for the children.)
