For this assignment, you will take a deep dive into secondary data. Information on how to find secondary data can be found in the “Exploring and Finding Secondary Data” folder in Week 4.

The focus of this assignment is finding real secondary data from a publicly available source (that you can cite and include the link to) and then analyze this data based on a research question you come up with. Using hypothetical data does not meet the minimum requirements for this assignment. In addition, the use of JASP is required for this assignment, which means you need to include the JASP output from your analysis and the CSV file of the data set.

Exploring one of the secondary databases introduced in this week’s class or that you have found on your own, find a data set and then write up the following information as an APA-style paper, including Title, Reference, and Appendix pages.

Note: The data set you select has to be large enough for a valid analysis. For example, for a correlation, linear regression, multiple linear regression, independent samples t-test, ANOVA, or MANOVA, you would need at least N = 30 for each group (so 30 rows of data).

1. Provide some brief information about the data set, including a citation and reference for the data set. ( https://apastyle.apa.org/style-grammar-guidelines/… )
2. Write a well-articulated RQ that addresses the data set.
3. Identify the variables, including the following:
   1. Variables (ex: gender, GPA, IQ)
   2. Are the variables numeric or categorical (ex: Gender is categorical; GPA & IQ are numeric)
   3. If the variable is categorical, then provide the categories/groups that make up that variable (ex: For gender, the groups would be female, male, and other)
   4. If the variable is numeric, then provide the range of possible values (ex: GPA is the person’s GPA score, IQ is the person’s IQ score)
4. Correctly worded hypothesis (null & alternative)
5. What statistical test should be used to analyze this hypothesis, and why is that test the most appropriate? Include a citation to back-up your use of this test for your research question.
   • Statistical Test Options: Chi-square, Correlation, Spearman correlation, Independent samples t-test, ANOVA, Linear Regression, Multiple Regression, MANOVA. [Note: You can only use one of these tests for this assignment unless you get permission from the instructor.]
   • Remember, the statistical test has to match the type of variables you have. Ex: You cannot do a multiple regression between gender, GPA, and IQ because gender is categorical. For a multiple regression, you need three numeric variables. Instead, you could do a MANOVA because there is a categorical variable with three groups and two numeric variables.
6. Conduct the statistical analysis using JASP (download JASP software: https://jasp-stats.org/download/ ) and write up the results in the correct APA format.
   • APA formatted results per the information provided in our course.
   • If needed, and depending on the statistical test used, include any additional results (ex: Shapiro-Wilk, Box’s-M, Durbin-Watson, etc.).
   • If needed, do any follow-up post hoc tests and include the results (ex: Tukey post hoc for ANOVA, MANOVA).
   • Include screenshots of the JASP output as an Appendix
