Background: Mergers and Acquisitions (M&As) – 2018 to Present
The Federal Department of Justice (DoJ) filed suit to block the Cigna-Anthem merger. In 2018, Cigna announced its intention to merge with Express Scripts and Walmart considered acquiring Humana. Recent events in December 2023 suggest another potential deal may be possible between Walmart and Humana as well as some other potential healthcare entities.
