As a team leader, I would use a democratic leadership style for all three nurses, for it encourages each team member to participate in decision-making and opinions. It creates a sense of value for the nurses as they are included in the decision-making process, leading to productivity. They are great innovators and cohesion when team members share new ideas and work towards achieving a greater goal. The leadership style still plays a critical role in providing the members to engage in group discussions and effectively make decisions. Therefore, through the use of this leadership style can help the members in achieving their goals.
Using democratic leadership as the only style influences positive productivity as team members are guided according to their own decisions, which makes their working environment more comfortable. Supporting team members based on their needs motivates them to build more confidence and commitment at work (Jaafar et al., 2021). It also encourages strong relationships through listening and communicating effectively, allowing the leader to meet everyone’s needs. This leadership style is considered to be the most effective in healthcare setting because of the amount of coordination in promotes between group members.
In an emergency, my leadership style would change for flexibility because different styles can differ in various circumstances. Adjusting helps to understand and determine the right leadership style that meets the needs of each team member to make them feel valued and bring the best out of each nurse (Wuryani et al., 2021). Changing leadership style is also important in the workplace environment to encourage self-development, helping to succeed as a leader and organization’s growth to a more positive outcome. Maintaining the same leadership style provides the group members with an opportunity of maintaining effective coordination in case of an emergency. That enables the members to make urgent decisions especially after the emergence of urgent events.
