The book to review is The Great Divorce by C.S. Lewis. Write an essay of at least 7 pages (double-spaced, Times New Roman 12pt font, with 1” margins) that thoroughly addresses an approved prompt. Your paper should have a strong, defensible thesis and be based on a close engagement with the text(s), and you should cite passages by line number. If it is ever unclear which text you are citing, you should also include its title in that specific in-text citation. For instance, (318-21) or (Book of the Duchess 318-21).

Craft an argument that explores the relationship between the “dreamer” of the text and the reader(s), as well as the implication(s) of this relationship on the meaning or interpretation of the text. For instance, you might consider how readers are expected to relate to the visions that the dreamer is seeing, or whether the readers are expected to learn from the dreamer or with the dreamer. That is, are readers expected to witness the visions of the dreamer, or experience the dreams alongside them? What do we know about the dreamer, and how does this influence our understanding of the text?
