D. Give a presentation on an Islamist reformer or a reform

movement highlighting the main disagreements with conservative thinking.

Requirements:

(1) The 10-15 minute presentation (HONP 15-20) should provide information that is

not mentioned in detail in the textbooks.

(2) Students who are presenting on the same general topic should meet with the

instructor to make sure that there will be no overlap among presentation topics.

(3) Each student needs to submit a printed one-page outline on the day of the

presentation. It should include first a list of the books, articles or websites (2-3)

that are used as the presentation’s main sources and a short outline of the

presentation. Make sure to print your name on the outline sheet.

(4) The presentation should start with a short description of the chosen sources and

their significance in providing information about the subject. Then, students will

present their topics based on the printed outlines.

(5) If your sources are mainly websites, you need to make sure that they are academic

resources that provide objective information as much as possible.

(6) This assignment is to give an oral presentation, but you can read from a text slowly

and carefully if it is necessary to do so.

(7) Please note that the presentation is an academic assignment in which you provide

information on your topic. It is not an expression of your own position towards any
