I am delighted to start on this educational experience into the enigmatic and challenging of Psychopharmacology alongside each of you. As we initiated this course together, I would like to share my background and aspirations.
In the field of healthcare, the pursuit of professional growth, is an ongoing reality. Now I embark on the comprehension of Psychopharmacology alongside colleagues and our professor, shaping our collective pursuit of excellence in patient care.
I currently reside in Miami, Kendall, Florida. Originating from Cuba, my professional journey began as a physician, where I acquired valuable insights and experiences within the medical domain. However, upon relocating to the United States, I encountered various obstacles in pursuing the same career trajectory. Undeterred by challenges, I transitioned to the nursing profession, where I discovered a newfound passion for patient advocacy. This led me to further my education and attain the role of Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP). Presently, I serve as the manager and surgical director at a plastic surgery clinic, where I oversee daily operations to ensure the provision of efficient and high-quality care (Smith, 2021).
A distinctive aspect of my role lies in the diverse patient population we cater to. Many individuals seek our services not only for cosmetic enhancements but also to address underlying mental health and personality concerns. Bearing witness to these challenges has ignited within me a profound commitment to fostering self-confidence and self-acceptance among our patients, irrespective of their physical appearance (Jones, 2019).
Moving forward, my primary goal upon completing this course is to augment my expertise in assisting individuals grappling with mental health challenges across different age groups. I firmly believe in the fundamental importance of mental health in overall well-being and provide compassionate care and support to those navigating such issues.
Beyond the confines of healthcare, I find solace and fulfillment in the art of cultivating bonsai plants. The intricate care required in nurturing these miniature trees serves as both a source of relaxation and a creative outlet. Additionally, I enjoy spending quality time with my family, especially my son, engaging in activities that foster connection and create lasting memories.
I acknowledge having thoroughly reviewed the syllabus for this course and fully comprehend its expectations and requirements. I am committed to active participation in class discussions, ethical completion of assignments, and upholding academic integrity throughout our shared journey.
