HMGT 495 Strategic Planning and Leadership in Healthcare
#1 RESPOND TO JARRA’S INITIAL POST: Reflect on the document and share your perspective on the study’s importance, choice of measures, and the conclusions made by the researchers. I think this study provided this hospital with useful information. Understanding quality assurance and the differing improvement methods is important in strategic planning and reaching a company’s mission and future goals. It is essential in order to gain and preserve a distinguished and reliable reputation within the healthcare community. This can be accomplished by gathering feedback or data, analyzing said data against set standards, and determining if modifications need to be implemented to meet given standards of what quality is (Fleming, 2021). Healthcare facilities can improve performance but determining quality issues and implementing small changes to mitigate them over time. However, sometimes it is hard to agree on or measure many different meanings of what quality in healthcare is. Which was stated in the study by a participant. If you were a researcher conducting this study, what would you have done differently? Why and how? I love the fact that they had focus group discussions. I think this method is valuable. Being able to sit and talk with individuals about their opinions openly is where you get honest dialogue and feedback that bounces off members in a group setting (Roller, 2020). If I were to do anything differently in this study, I would have liked there to be more individuals from the different departments. I would have randomly selected the participants to ensure less biased answers. I would have allowed a little more time for others to be included or provided multiple sessions to allow for full participation due to conflicting schedules. Do you agree with the conclusions of the study? Why yes or no? Offer examples to support your opinion. Yes, I do agree with this conclusion. Conclusion said multiple study members stated that they thoug ht their OQA was beneficial and necessary (Henker et al., 2018) . However, it was far too soon to really understand and see the impact that it truly has on the quality of care provided by the hospital. I agree that one year is too soon to really see the impact of quality improvements. It is a process that takes time, and they are on the right path with being open to this study to gain insight on their quality assurance. It would be beneficial to send out another patient satisfaction survey a couple of mont hs after the latest study to see where they are. I do disagree with one of the participants about patients not being truthful with their satisfaction due to the care being free. I would hope that patients would be honest with how they were treated and care outcomes they had without thinking of money. Jarah Henker, H., Fox-Lewis, S., Tep, N., Vanna, D., Pol, S., & Turner, C. AUPHA/HAP Book. #2 RESPOND TO CHRISTINE M.’S INITIAL POST: One of the most significant benefits of a successful healthcare quality improvement program is quickly recognizing concerns impacting patient care or safety. Quality improvement initiatives maximize hospital clinical outcomes and offer an efficient way to expand employee engagement by inviting team members at all levels to provide their feedback and help develop the hospital. This section discusses an in-depth analysis of the quality assurance program implemented in a limited resource setting. The stu dy observed that developed countries recognize the value of healthcare organizations using a quality assurance program. The qualitative research approach chosen for the completion of this analysis, I believe, was the most suitable method as it helps to evaluate various aspects of the research. Focus groups are not as successful at covering a single topic in depth as individual interviews. Focus groups are more suitable for research for a wide range of participants. They are the best way to share views and address customer disputes, but a downside to using them is the risk that participants will not express their frank and personal views on the issue. They may hesitate to voice their thoughts, especially when contradicting another participant’s views. I would have given a survey to all if I were a researcher and then held one-on-one interviews with the team members. A one-on-one interview would allow you to go into a conversation far more profoundly, mainly due to longer speaking times. More insights will likely be gathered because of this, which would be helpful for later research. I completely agree with that conclusion. While they may not always be expected, they are essential no matter what sector you are in in quality assurance programs, particularly in enhancing quality and standards. Today, because of these figures, hospitals are ranked according to patient outcomes, and patients may choose the best hospitals for their illnesses or conditions. Quality assurance helps keep these numbers up and keeping them accountable helps ensure the success of the healthcare staff. Reference: Henker H, Fox-Lewis S, Tep N, Vanna D, Pol S, Turner C.
