Business Research Methods (BUS204) Individual Assignment Spring Semester 2023/2024 Instructor: Dr. Tamer Koburtay Email Address: [email protected] Please read the following rules carefully: • Individual report should be 2000 words in length, including the cover page and references. • Use my office hours and the time allotted for team discussions in class to ask questions, clarify any issues you have about this assignment, and receive feedback on your progress toward completion. • You have to submit the assignment report via Blackboard/Turnitin before 11:59 PM on 5May-2024. • After the above date and time, there will be a 10% penalty per each day for late submission (if approved). • This assignment is an important requirement in this course and is worth 20% of the total grade. NOTE: CLO Assessed: CLO3 & Assessment Weight: 20% 1 An essential skill is to be able to summarize and evaluate empirical research. Empirical research refers to research articles that present novel research findings. Over the course of the semester, you will read a number of empirical research articles in order for you to learn more about how research is conducted. In this assignment, you must select an EMPIRICAL (research) article. You should choose an article published within the last five years. You can use one of the articles uploaded in BB under “Reading Materials” folder. Include the full reference for the paper you are analyzing at the end, in a proper APA format. You need to support your arguments with additional citations for the assignment from relevant research papers using Google Scholar/University Library. Submit your final analysis via Blackboard. The grading rubric for this assignment is below. Format • The report should be written using 12-point size; times new roman font with 1.5 linespaced, and should be 2000 words in length (including cover page and references). • The cover page should provide the title of the research paper, the complete student’s name, student ID number, and course code. 2 Requirements: • Introduction (summary of the article): What research objectives or questions inspired the study? What methods were used to investigate the topic? Which sampling procedure the author(s) used to collect the data? What are the benefits from using this sampling approach? (5 points – CLO3) • Analysis: o PART 1: Do(es) the author(s) critically review the literature? What are the benefits the author(s) gained from reviewing the literature? What are the sources used in their study? (5 points – CLO3) o PART 2: What statistical analysis the authors used to analyze the data? How they measure the validity and reliability? (5 points – CLO3) • Conclusion: What are the main strengths of the article? What do you think the authors did especially well in describing or analyzing their results? What are the main weaknesses of the article? What are the limitations of the method(s) used?
