- In 2001 on September 11th one of the most significant terrorist attacks took place in New York at the World Trade Center and the Pentagon in Washington, D.C (Koestler-Grack, 2024). It was carried out by terrorists from an Islamic group called al-Qaeda through hijacking commercial airplanes and crashing them into the buildings (Koestler-Grack, 2024). This is what facilitated the strict TSA policies after the incident. Later in 2001 there were bioterrorism attacks after 9/11 using anthrax spores. Letters were spread across the U.S. specifically targeting U.S. Senators and media offices which resulted in 22 falling ill and 5 deaths. Now in terms of standardized education in healthcare, bioterrorism and anthrax is discussed and taught in order to prepare for any future incidence of this. Global terrorism is something I don’t think can be stopped. There will always be radicals and people who rise to power in places where governments and populations are vulnerable or people are desperate for some kind of change (Corbett et. al, 2023). A good example of this is the rise of Hitler, but in a smaller scale. There will always be radicals and people who do what they will and there is only so much that can be done with government intervention. Peace and stability in the Middle east are vital the the U.S. economy and national security. The U.S. is one of the most powerful nations in the world which also doubles as a target and also responsibility to show up for those we are allied with. Without peace and stability in the Middle East, the risk of threat against the U.S. is always a concern and leaves the relationship between import/exports vulnerable since there could be turbulence in the relationship at any time if there is a lack of peace and stability there.
