Chapter Review (Introduction – Chapter 5) Except Ch. 2
Book: Pentecostal Hermeneutics: A Reader, edited by Lee Roy Martin
Section I: Summaries of the Chapters
Introduce the author and the essay the author wrote. Identify the topic and the main argument. Each chapter (include the Introduction for the first review) should be introduced, then briefly summarized in three to five sentences.
Section II: Extensive Review of a Chapter
(1) Introduce the chapter and identify the author.
(2) Identify the theme and summarize the chapter in six to eight sentences.
(3) Interaction with the information. This is a critical engagement where you assess the strength of the author’s argument, the way the argument is made. For example: Is it logical, does the author contradict their own argument? Is the topic still a viable concern today? Are there apparent biases and weaknesses? Were you persuaded or dissuaded by the main concerns of the essay. If so, why or why not?
(4) Conclusion. Restate the strengths and weakness of the chapter, and state the value of its contribution for today.
